Thanks to picasa and google maps, you can even check it all with the (more or less) accurate locations!
But here are all the pics in neat and small format for your enjoyment! with text!
So we went again to the Northern parts of Greece, this time Makedonia and Thessali, via Thessaloniki airport. Where we got our brave rental car, that had to double as a mountain climbing goat. Because that's how we roll.
We had 3 days sunshine, and 4 days cloudy weather with occasional rain. Which was just as we had ordered it, as the 1100km I drove would have been a bitch in the sunshine all the time!
Here a few impressions from our hotel:

Both of those pics are from the hotel gardens, where we spent the sunny days. the hotel was directly at the beach, but the gardens were much nicer ;)
And they had cats, as every Greek hotel should have.
The mom:

and her kids:

who both weirdly resembled our own cats! It was cute. And we were cat home sick!
On the first day after we arrived, we made a trip into the Mt. Olympus region - and let me tell you, there were a lot of really small, very steep roads lol
Our faithful car, action shot!

and the mountains at the foothills opposite from where the car was parked:

then we arrived at the plateau near Karya - and as always, the mountains were hiding in the clouds.

The village of Karya - just so you all know that the white houses with the blue domed roof? that would be on the island of Santorini.

Yeah, my cheesy cam has macros zoom :p

On the other side of the mountains, towards Katerini

The next day we went again into the same mountains, only a little more towards the South.
The awesome village of Paleo Panteleimonas

and THIS I meant with the small, winding, roads :p

Mind the strobes of light! behind that mountain was the road we went the day before, towards Karya. We were going on to Gonni.

Where we followed this truck:

On to the beach we went then, after missing the way like 3 times (my bf is NOT a good navigator! and driving + map reading at the sma etime - not the kind of multitasking I like to do) - but the view was worth it! It was rainy and we had forgotten our swimsuits, but Agiokampus was def. one fine village on the beach.

Gah, the coast line was just beautiful there

with awesome trees, too

Then we had a day of sunshine, pool, and swimming in the sea. no pics, just lazing around.
Third trip - further into the South, to the city of Volos, and the great Pilion mountains. Yep, Greece is all about mountains!
Up into the hills (how else could it be) above Volos, towards Portaria:

and looking down at the port of Volos. Where Iason and the Argonauts left for their journey, oh, a looong time ago!

See that road? Yep, our way towards the winter sports town of Chania

Lots of driving later - and we got to the most awesome beach ever!

My camera sucks, but that water was the purest crystal cyan you can imagine. just - unbelievably beautiful. and so awesome to laze around on.
Coastline towards the South - I SOOO need to go there again!

Maybe to this resort?

Ah, road. Very nice road. And for once no rain on the pics! I swear, whenever we shut off the camera, the sun would come out!

another two days of pure sunshine - beach. reading. no sex because the bed was killing us :p
Last day, our plane was leaving at night, so we got a whole day of sightseeing - and we went to the great archeological site of Dion, where once Alexander the Great had his camp, and did a lot of, well, stuff. Like sacrificing bulls. And planning his campaign to India.
The museum there was great - just a few impressions:

If Alexander would have written fanfic, it would have looked like this, most likely - as it is, those are LETTERS. Yep, LETTERS. I don't envy those pigeons ... ;)

More from the actual, huuuge dig:

And because three times is the charm - we went AGAIN into the Mt. Olympus mountains! This time above Litochoro.

On the way down, we had to wait. There was a traffic jam on the road!

So that was Greece! Go figure what I was plotting while driving up and down through the mountains :p
